Anonymous: do you think it's actually likely gotham would be picked up by another network if canceled by fox? i'm sure the fandom will try their best, and it worked out for brooklyn nine nine, but i don't know i feel like there's less of a chance with gotham somehow. nbc used to own b99 so it makes sense they'd take it back but do you think anyone would likely take gotham?

Another network will want Gotham if we show them that Gotham is a beloved show.

The Brooklyn99 fans proved this! They literally took over Twitter and forced the world to see how much they wanted their favorite show to continue. They weren’t just lucky, they banded together and did a lot of hard work. They became an unstoppable force. Brooklyn99 had very low ratings this season. Overall in Fox scripted shows Gotham was 12 out of 20, B99 was 18 out of 20. Yes, NBC once owned B99, but they let it go. Why would they want it back, with such low ratings? The only reason is, NBC was impressed with the publicity they could get out of “rescuing” a show that had fans who put the show on the news. Here’s what one critic said:

“What’s more, even if a passionate audience doesn’t directly translate into profits for a network like NBC, at a time when Netflix and premium cable are dominating the pop culture attention span, there’s something to be said for having shows people talk about and truly love.“ source X

What happens next with Gotham is going to depend heavily on whether or not Gotham fans show up and make themselves heard on Twitter. Robin Lord Taylor has reached out and asked for our help. Anyone who has a Twitter account should be on Twitter, even if you can only make a few tweets with the hashtags he suggested. So if you want Gotham to continue, start tweeting!
